4D Explosion -- Part 2
4D Explosion
April 2007 -- The second part of this 2-part series shows how to "explode" the 3D shadow of a 4D icosahedron (the 600 cell, see April 2006's Model of the Month) into a bunch of tetrahedra, then "join the dots" with long struts to build a kind of "meta-hyperdo!" Get the concept from the 3D Explosion, featured last month.

Many thanks to Marc Pelletier for suggesting this series.

Click on the image above for an explosive animation. Please allow up to a minute for it to load (it's about 4 megs.) If you have a dial-up connection, it's probably not worth the wait (even though it took me some 10 hours to make it!) --ph
