How does your nose know how to grow?
The secret lies in a tiny "computer program" in every cell of your body called DNA! Join Felix -- the double helix -- and discover the mystery of DNA, the blueprint of life. Build your own DNA model using the 71 Zome pieces included in this kit. It's a fun science project, complete with recommended readings! And step-by-step instructions make it easy. More than just a pretty molecule, DNA is always in today's headlines. Read all about it with loads of DNA factoids like this one: If you stretched out all of the DNA in your cells, it would reach the moon -- 6,000 times!
Parts Inventory: The Zome DNA Kit contains 71 Zome Pieces: 30 Zome Balls in 5 different colors and 41 Struts in 3 different colors (blue, yellow and red) and two lenghts (short or medium).

Note: Your model of DNA can use any arrangement of the colored balls you want, as long as the Yellow is opposite Blue, and Red is opposite Green, each time -- just like DNA.
The colors in the balls represent the four chemical components that make up the "ladder rungs" of DNA: Thymine (represented by a yellow ball) and Adenine (represented by a blue ball) always match up, while Cytosine (represented by a green ball) and Guanine (represented by a red ball) always match up.

Discover the most exciting molecule known to mankind!
Named after R. Buckminster Fuller, inventor of the geodesic dome, "BuckyBall" is the nickname for a Carbon 60 molecule. Like the faces of a soccer ball, it has 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. A great science project, BuckyBalls promise an amazing future -- superconductors, drugs, batteries, solar cells -- even super lubrication. Build your own BuckyBall using the 150 Zome pieces and step-by-step instructions included in this kit. And take a tour of amazing Bucky factoids, like this: The BuckyBall is the State Molecule of Texas!
Although the most famous of fullerenes, the BuckyBall has many cousins. Scientists have discovered hundreds of combinations of these interlocking pentagon/hexagon formations such as: BuckyBabies - spheroid carbon molecules containing fewer than 60 carbon atoms; FuzzyBalls - BuckyBalls with 60 hydrogen atoms attached; Giant Fullerenes - fullerenes containing hundreds of carbon atoms; Nanotubes (or BuckyTubes) - tubes of carbon created by passing an electric current between graphite rods; DopeyBalls - BuckyBalls which are doped with metal; HairyBalls - BuckyBalls that have split tubes hanging from their bodies, which could potentially be very useful in HIV research.
Parts Inventory: The Zome BuckyBall Kit conatins 150 Zome pieces: 60 black Zome Balls and 90 short blue Struts.
