  • It's a big bag of all red balls and red "blue" lines, just like the White Christmas kit (only in red), or the Green Christmas kit (only in red)! How can we sell these so cheap? They are made from recycled pre-consumer plastic. That is, we grind up the leftover plastic from red struts and make balls and blues (in red) out of it. Don't worry, the properties of the parts are not degraded and we only recycle plastic once in-house (2nd generation material is resold to make less demanding products).
  • These parts are all made from the same "fire engine" red material we use for Zometool red struts. My advice: don't mix them together with your other reds, since Zometool red struts are .95x (cosine 18º) the length of blue struts -- it's difficult to tell them apart, i.e., you'd need to sort them by shape. The "blue" struts (in red) have a Golden rectangular cross section, while Zometool red struts have the cross-section of a regular pentagon.
  • With regular blue lines, plus blues in red (like this kit) and blues in white (like White Christmas), you can build Fabien Vienne's fantastic Pentidisc, based on his Cubespace fractal mathematical system. Of course, you would need 105,000 or so parts, which we would be happy to supply. You would also need a large place to work on it, since it's 5 meters in diameter -- check out the installation at the Saxion University in Enschede, Holland. Did Fabien choose these colors? "Bleu, blanc, rouge, bien sûr!"
  • Look at the Pentidisc close-up -- amazing you can do all this with blue lines! The basis of Cubespace seems to be a fractal relationship between the stellated icosahedron and the stellated dodecahedron. So it's infinitely scalable. No wonder he wanted to build something that large. Don't you want to have that much fun, too?
  • Don't forget, you can build 3 different sizes of buckyballs (in Golden Mean proportions) with any of our "Christmas" series kits -- White Christmas, Green Christmas, Red Christmas, and Cinco de Mayo. Oh, and the "blue" lines (whatever the color) are so versatile. You could spend years exploring 15 dimensions in the blues alone. Remember, the Zometool "makes ya smarter or yer money back!"
