The modest Cube.
Probably the most iconic and familiar shape of our time. Yes, it’s one of the five perfect 3D shapes but it seems so basic and simple, so familiar, it is almost unremarkable.
So what IS a Cryptocube? A puzzle/brainteaser. You start by building an all-black Cube and the challenge is to build a maze-like structure that allows you to remove the black edges (struts) while keeping the Black Cube’s corners undisturbed. Countless solutions are possible, some simple, some mind-bogglingly complex!
CryptoCube was a "concept" product, riffing on the open-ended puzzle nature of the Zometool: find different ways to connect the 8 corners of a cube, then share your solution(s) on an app (that's no longer available).
